As you can see from the video we have been headed the wrong direction for quite some time
A portable hoop house offers shelter to the turkeys inside their electrified-netting paddock. Moved every couple of days to a fresh pasture, the turkeys ingest copious amounts of grass to supplement their local grain ration.
At Johnston's Farm, we attempt to emulate an ecological habitat that occurs naturally in the wild; chickens in nature are the world's "biological cleansers", meaning they move from pasture to pasture, following herbivores and cleaning the grass of impurities. This not only grows healthy chickens who produce hearty meat and eggs, but also helps the environment by keeping the grass healthy and clean.
Free range laying hen's and eggs
Our hens and roosters have free access to the entire farm. They scratch to spread our the cow manure to eat fly larva and keep the farm free of most bugs as a bonus they provide wonderful healthy eggs
